At Summit, ministry is defined as living for the benefit of others. We strongly believe that God has given every person gifts with which to serve others in the various positions which they are called to fulfill throughout life. After graduation, Summit alumni expand across the world, excelling in ministry by serving those they come in contact with every day – whether in a secular vocation or full-time ministry, as a parent, neighbor, friend, etc.
Cedar Haven Nursing Home
Two teams of students minister at Cedar Haven Nursing Home, located about 20 minutes from Summit. Students visit with residents of the facility praying for them, singing and leading Bible studies. On Sundays, Senior Summit students lead the nursing home’s church service in preaching and worship.
Milton Hershey School is a boarding school that has provided top-notch education and opportunities to children who come from low-income families for over 100 years. Summit has had the opportunity to partner with this organization to minister to the children who live and attend there. Students who are a part of this ministry assist Milton Hershey staff with a “youth night” for older elementary school children once a week.
The Lebanon Rescue Mission was first established in 1945 and has been a place for homeless men to receive help “finding jobs, education, and new lives in Christ Jesus”. The students on this ministry team are able to come alongside the mission to minister to the men by forming relationships over dinner and leading small Bible Study groups.
The Street Ministry team heads out to various inner-city locations every week to minister to whoever they meet. The team looks for opportunities to share the Gospel as well as to point people to churches or organizations in the community that can meet their physical and spiritual needs and help them sustain long-term growth.
The Summit Kids! ministry team creates a fun and impactful environment for the children of Summit Community Church to learn about and worship God every week. This team also leads the Milton Hershey children’s Sunday chapel service and a program for a local foster care ministry, each once a month.
Twelv2Athlete is the sports ministry of Summit. This ministry team is involved in coaching basketball, soccer and/or volleyball, using sports for outreaches, and mentoring youth. Check out the website for a glimpse of the Twelv2 program. Twelv2Athlete.org
YFC Elementary & High School
Youth for Christ is an inner-city youth ministry in the nearby city of Lebanon that has been opening its doors to the children and youth of that community for over 20 years. They provide a safe place for youth to spend time outside of school and learn about the love of God. Summit has ministry teams that assist every week with their Elementary Club night and High School Club night, teaching, preaching, leading worship and building relationships with the youth.
